El vuelo 123 de Japan Airlines (JAL 123/JL 123) fue un vuelo comercial entre el Aeropuerto Internacional de Haneda, en Tokio, y el aeropuerto Internacional de Osaka, en Itami Hyogo. El 12 de agosto de 1985 el Boeing 747SR que cubría esa ruta, registrado como JA8119, colisionó 44 minutos después del despegue en lo alto del monte Takamagahara a 100 km de Tokio, debido a una descompresión. El lugar del impacto fue renombrado posteriormente como Osutaka O`ne. Permanece en la historia como el mayor desastre aéreo con un solo avión involucrado y el segundo en accidentes de aviación de todos los tiempos, después de la colisión de 1977 en Tenerife y excluyendo los atentados del 11 de septiembre de 2001 (ya que estos fueron ataques terroristas, no accidentes).
Los 15 miembros de la tripulación y 505 de los 509 pasajeros murieron (incluyendo al famoso cantante Kyu Sakamoto): en total 520 muertos.
